Artist's Comments

I've been playing with the SubD dragon at DAZ, but since I'm not too comfortable with Studio, i've loaded him up in C4D. This is a detail of the finished image, which I will be uploading when I wake up tomorrow

Looks fantastic, especially the light came out very good.

I skipped the SubD-Dragon since I can increase/decrease polycount within C4D and I can do some subdivision or hypernurps with the standard dragon or the LE dragon...

Well, the bit that I liked what that I could have a full flock rendering in a single pass, with different levels of subdivision on them, and still with a really low total screen polycount. That is, start with a low mesh and go up, as opposed to the other way round. My final Dragon Flock pic was just 150K polys on screen, but 1.5M at render time.

And besides, you can never have enough dragons :)

Stupid question, though... do you do decrease the polycount? I'm not sure I've seen a way of doing this yet.

Thanks. I was amazed at how crisp and good the render came out. It's the first time I've ever been so happy with an outdoor render in C4D

I decreased the polycount a lot for background figures. Under "deformers" in C4D you have a "polygon reduction deformer" which works quite well :)
